Working at DAA Legal

Join us to grow together

DAA Legal is a firm you can grow with. Lawyers here take responsibility early, appear in court often, and sit with partners on the matters that shape their judgment.

We hire for temperament as much as for marks. The work is demanding and the standards are high, but the people you work with prepare properly, say what they think and treat colleagues and clients with the same courtesy. Every application is read by a partner, not screened by software.

What we look for

Five habits we hire for

Rigour

You read the whole file, check the citation, and would rather find the problem yourself than have the bench find it for you.

Candour

You say what you think in conference, including to a partner, and you tell a client the difficult part first.

Curiosity

You are interested in how the law works and why, and you keep reading after the matter is over.

Composure

Courts are unpredictable and clients are anxious. You stay calm, keep your word, and keep the client informed.

Consistency

The tenth file of the week gets the same preparation as the first, and the client hears from you when you said they would.

Life at the firm

What the work is actually like

Partner-led work

You sit with a partner on live matters from the first week. Your drafts are read and returned with comments, not rewritten in silence.

Court, often

Associates appear regularly, first as juniors and then on their own. Interns attend hearings with the team and write up what they saw.

Full autonomy

You are trusted with your own matters and your own reading time, and judged on how you handle both.

Application

Send us your CV

Applications are read by a partner. If none of the openings matches your experience, a speculative application is welcome at any time of year: tell us what you would like to do and why. You may also write to careers@daa-legal.com.

What happens next

  • We acknowledge your application and review it with the partner responsible for that practice.
  • If we would like to meet you, we arrange a conversation at the office or by video call within ten working days.

Optional. What you have worked on, and what you would like to work on.
